Carters Place in Historic Lockport, Illinois. Carter's Place is the Winner of the 2002 Readers Poll "Best in the Burbs Blues Bar" and home to one hot Wednesday night Open Mic Night (Blues Jam) for blues musicians. Carter's Place is a (get this) 150 year-old bar. It located on the southeast corner of Illinois Highways 7 and 126, near the Des Plaines River, the I & M Canal and just a few minutes south of Interstate 55. Take I-55 to 53 S., stay on it for several minutes until you get to Hwy 7, turn left and go east across the bridges into town. In the middle of town, at the corner of Hwys 7 and 171, it is on your right. Their address is 13 W. Ninth Street in Lockport and their phone number is (815) 838-7881. It is easy to get their and well worth the effort. A typical blues club atmosphere is highlighted by its back door, down-stairs location. It is cozy but roomy enough for a crowd. They have reasonably priced drinks and great tasting munchies so come hungry and thirsty. We love to play at Carter's Place. The audience always has a good time too. (Maybe too good?) See their website at www.CartersPlace.US.

They are abit wild. We hope that will never change. See their website for information at www.LoveAndWarInTexas.com.
In March of 2003 we played in Elgin, Illinois at Marlene's. They are located at 184 East Highland, on the corner of Highland and Spring. Actually, to enter the part of "Marlene's" that we played at, you actually enter through the back door. It seems kind of fitting for a Bluesman to go in through the back door. Marlene's is a large bar, banquet hall, and restaurant rolled into one. It is located inside of Elgin's old library. The lower level is where the bar is and that is where we are playing. The other entrance faces the park at 50 Spring Street. That show in Elgin was a special one for us. We entertained a large number of friends and fans at the Marlene's show and had a blast. This was our best yet. Well...so was the one before and several after but we kind of hope the next one will be too. Highlights included our new version of Red Rooster, The Sky is Cryin, and our very own Low Down Homeboy Blues. Other highlights were some of our guests that got up on the stage to help us perform. What fun! We're buzzin from it for months. We ended up being hired to play a private party on Saturday that was intimate but full of fun.

There will be five stages set-up and five sidewalk areas with bands playing. Barbeque, Chicago Style Pizza, Billy Goat Burgers, Beer, Margaritas, drum circles, and so much more are available to keep you busy. Wow. Four days of Blues Music and fun in the sun. The Sweet Tomato Garden Cafe in McKinney, Texas is a great place to watch live music, eat, and party. We found them to be great venue for blues music. They are located at 107 S. Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069. Their number is (972) 562-8386. Click Here for a map. This garden cafe and lounge is located in a very large restored home in historic downtown McKinney. The Sweet Tomato Garden Cafe features an outdoor venue for music when weather permits. We were there in January and we are due back on May 15th. We played inside last time but we are looking forward to playing out on the patio. We hear the bands really enjoy playing there. The Sweet Tomato is just off of the "Square" in McKinney. They are known for their steaks and burgers so come early and come hungry. The Sweet Tomato bar has a bunch of the band's favorite beer on tap and the bar tender whips up some mean drinks. Tell him the Blues Drifters said howdy.
