Ron's Powerful Bass
Moves the Music and the Soul

Ron Lasken grew up in Los Angeles where he first learned to play drums alongside his older brother's band. He continued on drums through high school, switching to bass guitar in 1978. He relocated to Chicago in the mid-80s and played with local original bands for a few years before becoming active in the blues scene, first with Lucky Lopez, "Winnetka" Jim's City Slickers. He went on to tour internationally with Chicago blues legend Jimmy Burns for over ten years. With Ron Gray, a fellow Jimmy Burns alum, he co-founded Gray Matter.

Since moving to the Fox Valley area, Ron has played guitar and sung at local open mics and jams and now can be found playing bass with The Blues Drifters as well as Missbehavin' and The Tarnations.

Ron's musical influences are eclectic and include Phil Lesh of The Grateful Dead, Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones of Zeppelin and Bill Wyman of the Stones, Jack Cassady of Jeff Air and Adam Clayton of U2.
